It's been quick. It's been HOT. And it's been a lil bit crazyπ!!
We did our annual beach family trip at the end of May right when all the gkids were getting out of school. One family came at the beginning of week. Another came mid week and the third came at end of week but we did manage a few days in there when ALL were there and it was so fun! I did manage to get that post on the ol' blog. Then the dog days of June hit!
And it has pretty much stayed just like this for June July and August! With no rain until last week when we finally got a good soaking. Plants? dead. Grass? suffering. (thank goodness for Cap'n who has kept watering it all summer.) YaYa and PoppyPearl?
We pretty much did this most of the summer!!
One truly wonderful thing tho was the crop of tomatoes!! Told Cap'n yesterday that he has perfected the skill of raising the best tomatoes and watermelons ever!! As well as purple hull peas and corn and potatoes and all forms of squash and cantaloupe!!!
My fave new dish was the tomato galette!
Cap'n and I continued on with our every Friday night steak night...it's been going on for a long time!!
I never order steaks from restaurants any more because they are NEVER as good as my boyfriend cooks them!! Perfect every time!!
End of June rolls around and it's time to prepare for the 4th of July celebration!
We mostly just entertained family and close friends this year and it was perfect!
Our Family!!! Sons, daughter in laws and 6 grandchildren!
Papaw, my husband's father, would be SOO proud of this! This is two of his boy's families...Charles and his baby brother, Danny. And ALL the rest of the clan! Nothing would have made him more happy than to see his family all together, playing together!! It was so much fun!
Cousins and 2nd cousins!!
Nothing makes a YaYa happier than having a deck full of peeps eating ribs and chicken and pork roast and potato salad and barbecue beans and hot links...
or a boat load of peeps skiing...
or grandchillens jumping off the deck into the water!!
or a pool full of children laughing and playing together!!
YES!!!! It was a glorious celebration!!
The latter part of July also brought 3 cases of Covid to our Plano family. π’
Lots of prayers and talking went out to them and all are well now!π
The first of August brought a planned girlfriend trip to Fort Morgan, Alabama for me. One of our friends bought a new beach house and it was time to christen it with a gal pal trip!
the yellow house on right is theirs!! and it's beautiful!
we had only been there one day when two things happened..
water spout that, thankfully, did not come ashore...
and this...
Cap'n, who was at home...9 hours away...tested positive.
And he was sick. Very sick. He did not want me coming home for obvious reasons. Between being worried like crazy about him and wondering if every day would be the day that I tested + for it...that trip turned from fun to not so much fun. But he was adamant that I not come back.
It was not until 2 weeks later that he finally was negative. And 20 lbs lighter. π’ but thankfully, now is much stronger and back to his funny self!!!
(been keeping lots of plates like this available to him!!)
Many prayers answered! And I have escaped it this time.
(have only shared our covid saga here so it goes into our family diary)
But what better place to be worried, right?????
Did a whole lot of walking and thinking and praying...
First of August also brought back to school times.
First day of 3rd grade for Case and 1st grade for Lane!
Greeted by their best friend, River, at the end of the day!!
First day of 7th grade for Lilli (wow) and 4th grade for KatieJane!
First day of 2nd grade for Josey and 5th grade for Austin!!
and now they're back to gymnastics and softball and baseball and getting ready for a new hunting season that begins this weekend!!!
Happy Happy Kids!!!
Lucky YaYa!!!
Every path leads us somewhere....it is up to us to do the best we can with the knowledge we have in making the right choices. And pray that our paths will lead us to happiness!!
