What Makes Our Souls Sparkle??

This precious BIRTHDAY GIRL who surely makes all of our souls sparkle because of her sweetness, her love of family, her devotion to her goals and dreams and, well...she's just about the most awesome kid I know!!! (besides my other 5 grandbabes!) (YaYa bias, I know.)
She's 12 today!!
How has it been 12 yrs since the day she was born and her daddy, my middle boy, was telling her to watch out for the lady at the window because she might get her into trouble??????? wha????

She has not only fulfilled my love tank for little girls and is my first grandchild....she makes me so proud with her day to day accomplishments and her happy happy outlook on life!!

She has become quite a hunter too!
which has put her dad and her grandfather OVER THE MOON!!!

Hoping your special day is as cool as you are and I know you will celebrate in style!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEET LILLI...WE LOVE YOU EVERSO!!

IT'S THIS GAL'S BIRTHDAY!!!! OUR SWEET DAUGHTER IN LAW!!!

kinda...!!!!  Actually her birthday was yesterday, January 14, but we think she's so special that everyday should be HER birthday!!!!
Hailey loves our boy so much and as I've said here many times before....the greatest thing a mother could ever ask for is that her children find someone who loves them as much as she does!! I'm so lucky because she is the best wife to my son and mother to my grandsons that I know my wishes were granted!!
She is the coolest aunt to all the cousins and a pretty fun sister in law too!!!
they always have so much fun being crazy together and she makes a pretty mean charcuterie board too!!!

and I think we are just that powerful!!!  In our hearts 💖!!!

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAY!!!!

we love ya with all our hearts!!

Hello New Year!! 2022!

I use this quote every year on the first of January...I think it says so much and I often remind myself to look for the potential more often..
Cap'n plucked this baby out of his garden on New Yrs Eve for our Jan 1 meal of black eyed peas n cabbage.  For good luck and good fortune..me thinks he was really looking for alot of fortune with this one!!!! 😚
Hoppin' John and fried cabbage!!!
mmmmmmm....

We had a wonderful Christmas with all of our family gathered together, thank you Jesus!!
Everyone started coming in around noon on xmas eve and the weather was just perfect for being outside.  The kids rode all of the fun vehicles/toys that cap'n keeps around here. As well as making gingerbread houses!
Never matters how many times during the holidays that they make these cute lil houses...they always have fun doing them together!
I had decided not to have a sit-down meal, instead just doing buffet style.  So there was all kinds of foods from a big tenderloin roll to gumbo w/potato salad to marinated crab claws and shrimp butter to chicken salad croissants along with loads of dips and cheeses and breads....and well, you get it!!!
My wish was for everyone to eat what they wanted, when they wanted and to eat all day long!
It was perfect!!  And I didn't get a single picture because I was just too busy playing and laughing to even think about it -- just as it should be!!!
All the gorgeous boys in my life!!

And then the chaos of opening presents began......which becomes my favorite time to just sit back with a nice glass of wine and just watch!!!  Oh, the kid's laughter and the talking and sharing and playing is just sheer perfection!!!  Just one of the moments when I realize that all the work and all the planning is  so worth it!!
The celebration at YaYa & Cap'n's ended only after the reading of The Night Before Christmas to the grands.. from the same book that I read from to my 3 little boys every Christmas Eve of their lives!!
It's a ritual with us....even last yr when we couldn't all be together in 2020. we facetimed all of them and I read the book to them!!
With tired lil eyes and the anticipation of Santa's arrival, two of the families traveled back to their homes to wait on him.  Our Plano group stayed here to find Santa's work in the morning.

On Christmas Day, we drove to our middle boy's home for a beautiful lunch of prime rib, creamed spinach, green beans and mashed potatoes!!  And of course, to see all that Santa had brought the granddaughters!!

Upon arrival back home, it was time for a long winter's nap for this ol' YaYa with the memories of another wonderful Christmas with my family.  I am one blessed mom, mom in law and grandmom...and I appreciate every dingle dangle minute of it!!!!

Fast forward to this morning.....
a hot cup of cappucino and temps outside of 27 degrees with a dusting of ice and snow on the roof.....yesterday it was 75 degrees!!!!!    😲😲😲

I welcome 2022 with hopes and dreams of a healthy new year where only trust and honesty in our government and leaders abound.  Where there is no fear of what the next day will bring if you've been to the grocery store and our doctors and nurses stay safe.
I have not lost faith....I'll take Faith over Fear every day!!
