Walking Thru an 80 degree Christmastime Wonderland...

I mean, really???  We never have a white Christmas but we usually have cooler, brisk days around Christmas time.  I wouldn't say it's ever coat weather but alot of times, it's cool enough for a light sweater.  Not this year.  Nope.  Air conditioning just kicked on and the humidity is at 89%.

 Christmas in the South!

I took a stroll around the house....

As most of you know, I'm addicted to crazy looking elves!  The kinds with crazy faces and eyes. My daughter in law has always made fun of my love for them. Well, fast forward to now and my 6yr old granddaughter, Josey, who now thinks I'm even more cray cray for loving the elves.  She goes around my house, in every room, counting them and shaking her head at me!!!!  Which, of course, rocks my world!!

These are just a few of them.  Like a very few!!!

Funny story:  My plan for today was to make some Christmas goodies.  Needed food processor. Couldn't get my Cuisinart to even turn on. 💁
No clue what's wrong with it and got a leetle mad because I had everything out and was ready to work.  Then thought 😵 I wonder....looked under my island and what to my wondering eyes...Found the old standby..
A wedding present from 45 years ago!!!!  Worked like a charm!!!  Cannot believe I still even have it!
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Tried new recipe for my peanut butter balls this yr.  Instead of the peanut butter/confectioners sugar/butter concoction, I tried this:

NUTTER BUTTER TRUFFLES

1 16 oz. pkg of Nutter Butter Cookies
1 8oz. block of cream cheese, softened
1/2 lb white chocolate bark, melted
1/2 lb chocolate almond bark, melted
**I used semi-sweet chips and dark chocolate chips with a lil parafin**
Blend cookies in food processor until fine.  Add softened cream cheese.
Roll into balls and place in freezer for 20 min.
Coat in chocolate and swirl white chocolate over top

Got to watch my youngest grandson perform yesterday in his kindergarten Christmas program!!
💓 💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓

Now.....on to my menus and more grocery shopping to finalize for our Christmas Eve gala!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND MAY YOUR HOLIDAYS BE HAPPY!!!

Thanksgiving....2021!

Is it SO WRONG that it's only 2 weeks away from Christmas and I'm just getting my Turkey Day post up??????   Sigh.....not gonna give a million excuses, just suffice it to say I've been getting all spruced up for Santa!!!!  But let me also say...WHAT A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING WE HAD AS A FAMILY... cooking and eating and playing and laughing!  Plain and simple.  After the meal, I probably sat in my chair just watching and listening and sighing with love at the sights and sounds of my family.  SO Thankful!

and.....the first batch of party mix begins with this holiday!!  My mother in law introduced me to this some 45 yrs ago. It is my husband's fave as well as all the kids.  Many many more batches will be made between now and Christmas!
the beginning stage of Mommy Boo's (my mom) dressing that is a staple..
a perfect charcuterie board made by daughter in law 3 that was so delicious and pretty too!
pre-turkey day Cap'n's fish fry that was very anticipated by 6 precious grandbabies...
(sorry Lilli, I know you're not a baby but really??? you'll always be my baby!)

Lane's dad decided it was time for his boys to have their own cubby in the mud room- aka hunting prep room...and this boy could NOT get enough of arranging it!!!
my darling daughter in laws and I doing what we do best!!!!
again....SO thankful!
teaching granddaughter #1 how to make roux for gravy!

"Grown ups" table!
"Kids" table!

banana nut bread made specially for grandson #1...it's his fave!
the master turkey fryer carving up his bird!!
we always have a fried turkey and a roasted one...

Hailey always teaches the class on peanut butter turkey making after lunch on Thanksgiving Day!

the rest of the day ends up in napping and playing...you guess who does what!

It was a wonderful few days of 'thankful' celebration and this one was REALLY nice after last yrs 2020 upheaval of daily life...

VERY THANKFUL FOR MY FAMILY AND THE LOVE WE SHARE!!
