Fall at the Beach!!! 2021

But who would have known it was fall....other to see the light change and the temps fall just a bit.  Oh.. prolly to 84 degrees instead of the high 90's!!!   Every year, my galpals and I spend the last week of September at one of the Florida beaches....and it's a prescription for peace within our souls!  We do nothing except lie on the beach, read, eat, drink, laugh and cry all at the same time - Yet there are also times where we all choose to just do our own thing with nary a question at all.  Somehow, all the problems of the world we each live in simply don't exist for 8 whole days.... It's heaven, I tell ya!

And this year, the weather couldn't have been better scripted.  Sunshine, no humidity, warm during the day but cool and crisp at night.  The gulf waters were crystal clear with whiter than white sandy beaches and most days, even the waves layed down to sleep...making the water smooth and perfect for floating the hours away!!

calm waters where these two sistah's solved the world's problems!
(or peeing....not sure which!!)

It all began in the sky, cuz we are spoiled like that!  Even thru masks, the stories began...it's easy to do when you're above the clouds where we chose to believe Covid has never lived!!
first stop being the coolest seafood mart in all the land.....lbs and lbs of shrimp, royal reds and raw oysters!!!  Dinners for days!
dinner first night is always charcuterie (6 lbs of cheese I brought in my checked bag!) and huge boiled shrimp!!
breakfasts always included this with coffee, of course!
you know that ham and swiss cheese hawaiian roll recipe?  well, I switched it up to the rolls being stuffed with sausage, topped with scrambled eggs and covered with hollandaise sauce topped with provolone cheese.  Delish!
avocado toast with smoked salmon and salmon cream cheese spread!
Those breakfasts came after gorgeous sunrises..
6:41 am....
which turned into this at 6:45am
which made us all smile like this!!!!!
our days were spent here gazing into the gulf of mexico in front of us...
with skies the color of blue from the crayon box behind us!!!
smoked oyster and salmon dip for afternoon snack, recipe courtesy of my buddy, Betsy at Estelle's

lazy days turned into early evenings of watching that glorious sun set into its home for the night!

(of course we talked our chair guy into letting us leave OUR chairs out until 8pm!!)
anticipating THIS every night!!
you wonder how this is good for the soul??????!!!!!!!
and retreating to our balcony after the sunset to see the Harvest Moon watch over us!!!!

Before we knew it....it was time to pack up and head for home.  One last coffee where ....
take one last look around 5032 and bid farewell....
only until next time, my dear friends......YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!

P.S.........  while mama was away, never fear about the boys or ms. PoppyPearl...
they were playing too!!!!
notice the 5th hunter in this pic!!!!!!

Did Someone Say It's FALL?????

Hard to tell around here because we are still having 90 degree days BUT the mornings have been nice and the light is definitely changing!  It's softer and not as bright...like someone has put the cool filter on the sun  and taken the warm one off!!!!

Doesn't have to be Fall to think PoppyPearl puppy paws are cute!!!!

And because school started over a month ago and I had a hard time accepting that the grands were going back to school the first of august.....duh...STILL summer, school board people!!!!!
I am just posting back to school pics of the cutest little people I've ever known - cept for those three sons of mine!!!  Need to have these pics posted for family diary.

This is really Josephine's first year at the real school since she did kindergarten at home last yr!

Lilli started back at a new school this yr since they moved into a new house during Covid
while ms. Katiejane is still being home schooled by teacher Mom!
who also decided she should have blue hair to start the school year off!!

Case is back in his school that he loves!!
while baby Lane (oooops, he informed me that he is NOT a baby now. He's in big school!)
(but he'll always be our baby Lane!)
started kindergarten and totally loves every second of it!!

I am so blessed to have the cutest, smartest, funniest, most loving grandkids in all the land...
said by their YaYa!!!

Let the Fun Begin!!!

HUNTING SEASON began last weekend!!!!!  Dove season opened on Saturday and it quickly became a Grandfather, Father/child experience!!   About 8 am my phone started binging and the pics started coming in.....which makes me, oh so happy...when they send them to me! Cap'n, Chad and his son Austin, Matt and his two girls Lilli & Katiejane and Josh and his son Case were all gathered to hunt, play, eat, laugh and tell stories together!  Shanon and Luke were also there -- hunting buddies of them all....

This is a very special time in each child's lives....big and little.....for it is here where they are taught safety in all areas of the hunting field, teamwork, patience (roll eyes!) and a love for bonding with their cousins, uncles and dads!  Adorable pics are next!

This ethereal image shows four cousins having a pre- dawn, pre- hunt conversation...wouldn't that have been fun to eavesdrop on?!!!!

Snack time in the field!
The kingpin.....um, I mean the Cap'n!
And the dad of the dads!
Nap time!
Doves & Earrings!
Shell casings on every finger!!
A happy grandfather whose grandchildren have finally gotten old enough to hunt with him!!!

This was the first time they have all gathered together at the deer camp since the year of Covid...and I think it's safe to say that the weekend was a BIG success!!

Not even 10 minutes out of the driveway toward home:
One Down!
Two Down!!
Three Down!!!!

Not EVEN gonna tell ya'll how delicious my grilled dove dinner was on Sunday night!!!!!
