When Your Middle Boy Turns 39!!!!!! OUCH!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATTHEW LEE!!!

(named after my daddy..and me!....we're all Lee and Leigh!!) (today is also my daddy's birthday!)

It's always a little slap in the face when your children turn the tables on you and become the age that I still feel like "I" am!!!  Except for the aches and pains every time I get outa bed or up from my chair!!!

But oh, how proud it makes me to see him at this stage of his life...my son, a husband and a father that is truly living up to what every parent hopes to see their children become.  I couldn't have asked for more when we decided to have children......independent, loving, fun and always there at the drop of a hat if we need them....

Even after spending close to a month in hospitals last Fall.....He bounced back...AGAIN...to enjoy his hunting days....which is his second LOVE after family!!

Trying the new blogger.....and NOT happy about it...

I'm sorry.  I'm old and set in my ways.  I don't like change and when I finally get around to making a post, I just wanna make a post.  Not spend hours trying to figure out how to do it.  AND they're changing two of my fave editing programs too.  Whyyyyyyyyyy???   OK.  Rant over.  Sorry.  Going to change my attitude and realize that when it's 100 million degrees outside and still in quarantine....why not look at it as a challenge???  And a way to fill up an afternoon??!!!!

As I spoke above about the hot temps, I had to show you this first.  I let ms. poppypearl out the front door to take care of her business and immediately she plops down on the grass to let the feel of the sun soak thru body and her nose!  She loves the sun......for about 5 minutes!

Come on mom......come out and play in the million degree heat with me!!!!!

As for what we've been doing lately......um....do you remember me telling you about a massive vegetable garden that my boyfriend planted????  Well....it has been making massive produce and everyone around here has been pickin', shellin', cleanin', cannin' and freezin'!!!!!!!

I've canned bread n' butter pickles, dill pickles, two rounds of squash and zuchini relish, red tomato relish.  There has been bushels and bushels of purple hull peas and green beans frozen along with bags and bags of squash and zuchini.  Also the best corn on the cob you've ever tasted has gone into freezer along with creamed corn off the cob!!

And cantaloupes and watermelons!!

Cooking fills the time and trying to lighten up the meals a bit in this heat...

When not in the kitchen....just hanging out at the pool at the lake!

And my grandbabies......I hardly ever get to see them and when I do, we have to socially distance and those words just DO NOT go together.  I feel like they're growing up behind my back......

I miss my families.  I miss my friends.  I miss life the way it used to be.

Trying very hard to just put my big girl panties on and keep them on.....but it's getting harder by the week.

It's CASE'S 7th Birthday Today!!

If the definition of a young boy who loves any and all things having to do with the outside world....fishing, raising and taking care of chickens, 4 wheeler riding, hunting with his dad and playing with his "small" brother......that would be the description of our boy Case! When we have our 'sound off' of their birth order numbers, he falls in as number 4 according to their ages.  That's how we keep up with all of them when we're all together!!!
