I've been hesitating to write this post because, quite frankly, I'm still in constant anticipation and constant angst with what is happening in our world right now. But yesterday, my kids asked why I hadn't written about it yet. In our diary. Because this ol' blog has become the yearly book of memories for us all...a place to be able to come to when someone needs to remember what we did on such and such a day. A place to celebrate events in all of our lives and chuckle about them. Hopefully, a place where my grandchildren will come one day to read all about their growing up years with their cousins and aunts and uncles and their grandparents....
We've been prepared for a day like this. How..you ask?? My husband is a very smart man and his main goal in life is to protect his family. He has researched and studied long and hard, ever since the days of Y2K, on how to protect your loved ones in times of crisis. Of course, when it actually happens, there is still that feeling of panic. But for the most part, because of him teaching us his ways, our family is calm. All have stocked up for a few weeks and all are taking precautions to keeping one another safe and healthy. My sons are calm. My daughter in laws are amazing with their abilities to pick right up where the schools let off last week. They have all made schedules that began yesterday for study, exercise, rest and a lil bit of fun! They have become teachers in their own right in that they've not hesitated to do exactly what needs to be done for my grandchildren in such times of anxiety. Makes me so proud.
They've gone on nature walks. Fished in the pond. Done science experiments. Had a Dr. Seuss dress up day and cooked green eggs and ham.....
in the woods
walks with Dad
finding things that are green for St. Paddy's Day
at home science experiments
fishing at the pond

daily schedules
lesson plan on Ireland and St. Patrick
And a field trip today to get THESE!!!!!
CHICKENS!!
Chick-O and Duck!!
(Lane wanted a duck so he named his chick Duck!!)
So, as you can see......these kids will continue to "learn" whether its in the school house or their very own house!!
Poppy is surviving and thriving! Not sure how I can be SO IN LOVE with her in just 3 weeks, but I am!
with her cousin, Lulu, and Gypsy who didn't get in the pic cuz we couldn't get her still long enough!!!!
The following picture says a thousand words. My friend's daughter made it back in from Germany last Friday. so she's in house quarantine. My friend's husband and the girl's dad is a physician at our local hospital. He's in house quarantine as well. From each other.
This is how they were able to have a somewhat personable conversation one afternoon....
I've been spending some time in the bunk house (which we convert into a greenhouse in the winter) getting some of my plants out and trimming the dead stuff off. And that is like the very best therapy for me!!
In this time of uncertainty, we must stay strong and stay together. Even if from a distance. What's weird is that I've never thought of myself as the "older crowd" even tho my age says it's so.
Until now.
The aches and pains are bad enough but now I'm in the high risk range for this virus. And it's scary.
I put all of my faith in God. We know He has a plan for all and we have to be strong enough to wait for that plan to play out.
Will paranoia help? No.
Will patience help? Not with the virus, but it sure will help us to get thru these trying times.
We must pray and we must be patient. We must think of others when making decisions about living our everyday lives. We must be smart.
Just as the azalea bush in my yard is born again with blooms in spring,
we must have faith that everything will be ok in our world and this time of
not knowing will soon come to an end.
I pray for us all.
