But we did! And it's been the perfect home for all of us and we did make a few decisions like putting the kids end of the house on its own ac/heat unit and hot water tank so that when they grew up and moved away, we could shut that part of the house down. We should pat ourselves on the back for that one!! Because when you're 8 months pregnant with your third child...who really even considers that they will EVER move out!!!
We've updated many areas of house over the years but our bedroom was always at the bottom of the list, ya know??
So............just a few pics of my new room. And I truly love it....feels like I'm at a resort when I'm in there!!! (Hoping these pics are clear...I've had eye surgery on one eye with the other to be done next week and my world is a bit blurry right now. I've got one great eye and one baaaad eye!!)
that little wooden desk was my mom's. I can remember her sitting at it in her bedroom when I was a little girl every Monday afternoon paying her bills. My daddy got paid on Fridays and she would divide the bill amounts into envelopes....if anyone remembers the envelope method of budgeting...so Monday was bill paying day! After her death, I was lucky enough to get the desk. Immediately brought it home and stripped the 5 layers of paint off of it until I got back down to the original wood.
And back in my day before we did everything on computers, I would sit here and pay our bills, bringing my sons into my room to tell them this very story! Now it goes into our diary!!
there will be a little mini blingy chandelier hanging over chair below but just haven't gotten it hung yet.
Ok.....so maybe there's more bling than I realized!! heheheh
the painting behind my chaise was done by my daddy. he was an architect and always only painted abstracts. (I have a pregnant chicken painting over my bed at lake house as proof of this!) But my mom asked him to please paint her a real picture So this was his interpretation of Jesus walking thru the woods with the donkey. It hung in my house growing up my whole life there. Daddy made the frame and used butcher paper as the mat. It's yellowed and the wire hangar on back is hardly viable anymore. It is so very special to me and is prolly 75 yrs old now!
see the pillow in the chair?? My friend who painted the image for over my bathtub surprised me with a pillow with the image on it!!! She does awesome work...check her out...cathykgallery
Now, into the bathroom!
needed just a lil bling....love this fixture!
and just a lil bling on closet and bathroom doors!
sun roof streaming light in mid day
and if I'm lucky enough to get a bath right around sunset, the blue hour coats me with warmth thru that sun roof!
I feel like a princess when I'm in my new room!!!!!
Just have to add that I've been writing this post from my front porch this morning because it's a DELIGHTFUL 82 DEGREES WITH NO HUMIDITY......IN JULY?? IN LOUISIANA???
Feels like Fall!!!
