I Remodeled my Bedroom!!!

I guess I should change that to re-decorated, not remodeled,  because I didn't structurally change anything.  Just updated!!  And I guess I shouldn't say "I" did anything because we had builders doing all the heavy work like moving furniture out and redoing ceiling and painting and stripping old wall paper off  and the plumbing and installing floor.  But I did shop and decide paint colors and do all the design work!!!  heheheheh.  We built our house in 1985 and to me, it was the most perfect house that anyone could ever live in!  Granted, I was 8 months pregnant with two little boys who were 4 and 5 at the time and my boyfriend was working many many hours so we could build said house, so I'm surprised that we ever made any right decisions about the house build at that time!!
But we did!  And it's been the perfect home for all of us and we did make a few decisions like putting the kids end of the house on its own ac/heat unit and hot water tank so that when they grew up and moved away, we could shut that part of the house down.  We should pat ourselves on the back for that one!!  Because when you're 8 months pregnant with your third child...who really even considers that they will EVER move out!!!

We've updated many areas of house over the years but our bedroom was always at the bottom of the list, ya know??
So............just a few pics of my new room.  And I truly love it....feels like I'm at a resort when I'm in there!!!    (Hoping these pics are clear...I've had eye surgery on one eye with the other to be done next week and my world is a bit blurry right now. I've got one great eye and one baaaad eye!!)
that little wooden desk was my mom's.  I can remember her sitting at it in her bedroom when I was a little girl every Monday afternoon paying her bills.  My daddy got paid on Fridays and she would divide the bill amounts into envelopes....if anyone remembers the envelope method of budgeting...so Monday was bill paying day!  After her death, I was lucky enough to get the desk.  Immediately brought it home and stripped the 5 layers of paint off of it until I got back down to the original wood.
And back in my day before we did everything on computers, I would sit here and pay our bills, bringing my sons into my room to tell them this very story!  Now it goes into our diary!!

there will be a little mini blingy chandelier hanging over chair below but just haven't gotten it hung yet.
Ok.....so maybe there's more bling than I realized!!  heheheh
the painting behind my chaise was done by my daddy.  he was an architect and always only painted abstracts. (I have a pregnant chicken painting over my bed at lake house as proof of this!)  But my mom asked him to please paint her a real picture   So this was his interpretation of Jesus walking thru the woods with the donkey.  It hung in my house growing up my whole life there.  Daddy made the frame and used butcher paper as the mat. It's yellowed and the wire hangar on back is hardly viable anymore.  It is so very special to me and is prolly 75 yrs old now!
see the pillow in the chair??  My friend who painted the image for over my bathtub surprised me with a pillow with the image on it!!!  She does awesome work...check her out...cathykgallery

Now, into the bathroom!

needed just a lil bling....love this fixture!
and just a lil bling on closet and bathroom doors!

sun roof streaming light in mid day

and if I'm lucky enough to get a bath right around sunset, the blue hour coats me with warmth thru that sun roof!

I feel like a princess when I'm in my new room!!!!!

Just have to add that I've been writing this post from my front porch this morning because it's a DELIGHTFUL 82 DEGREES WITH NO HUMIDITY......IN JULY??  IN LOUISIANA???
Feels like Fall!!!

Matt was the BIRTHDAY BOY!!

It never matters how old they get or what stage of life they are in....when one of your children has a birthday....you go right back to that day when thy were born...remembering and smiling!!!
Last Saturday was my middle boy's 38th birthday!!!  How did THAT happen??!!  When I think of him as a youngster.....I ALWAYS remember this day
He was not quite 2, in the 80's and as towheaded as a cloud on a sunny day!!
He is my heart....
He is a super husband to his bride and a wonderful father to his daughters....I could not be more proud of him!
That smile on his face tells it all....he is one happy dad to be sharing his love of fishing with his firstborn!!
Can't you just see the love in his eyes??? This was right before they took his youngest back for tonsil/adenoid surgery and my first thought when I saw this pic is that is SO them....no posing for a pic.  Just true solid love for each other....they are like this all the time!!
and it began many years ago!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SON.....I KNOW YOUR FAMILY MADE YOUR DAY SO SPECIAL!!!!

SUMMERTIME...!

                                      “it's a smile, it's a kiss, it's a sip of wine ... it's summertime!”
                                                                                                                       ― Kenny Chesney

Hot humid evenings.  Cool crisp watermelon.  Bright green leaves on trees and flowers blooming as often as a child jumping into the wet and chilling waves of a swimming pool.

Early morning boat rides with laughter all around!

Fourth of July Celebrations!

Catching lizards and making earrings out of them ...

CASE is 6!!!

Yesterday was my 4th grandchild's 6th birthday and his name was in lights!!!!
That's right.....on a busy street in town, he had his own billboard telling the world that he is 6!!!!!
He is the son of my babyboy and his bride, which tugs at my heart just a bit....seems like only yesterday, HE was my baby and now he has sons of his own.  WOW.  Yet, so proud!

"what advice to I tell my grandson?
I listen to him!"
