Honey Do’s and Thank You Sir!

After coffee and a catch up of national news, the boyfriend asked me what i’d like to do on this fine Sunday spring morning??  Only there was a stipulation-it had to happen before 11 o’clock 😳  Why?  Because LSU’s baseball game began then and since he hasn’t missed one second of a game yet..he can’t start now!  Hey!! Doesn’t take me long to get to hoppin’ and skippin’ going straight to the plant shops!!    We had spent most of yesterday trimming palm trees and fertilizing the yard, getting all plants out of greenhouse and trimming those. Plus cleaned out a few flower beds. So, today it was time to shop!  Within 10 min of talking about it, we were in the car headed that way!! I'm not sure how much giddier I can feel than when walking into that nursery, jam packed full of brand new spring flowers...the smells, the humidity on your skin and the amazement of how beautiful the colors are!! Didn’t take me long to load up the 10 knockout roses I wanted to fill in my lonely azalea bed with and then grab some yellow and white jasmine to add to the privacy fence around the pool. 4 big geraniums here, 2 Shasta daisy plants to add to the back border beside hydrangeas there. Few lavender plants and lambs ear rounded out this trip. Yes, would take about 25 min to drive back to the camp and I would say we slid in right about the time the game started!!
When we got back and he was cheering his Tigers on.....I took a leetle nap...only to wake and find that all of the holes had been dug for my plants!!!!  That's MY kinda planting. He's a sweetheart like that!!  So...............all plants are in the ground and now soaking up this rainstorm that has woken me and sophiejane up from a long lumbering sleep.  Hard to get back to sleep after taking her out with both of us under the umbrella (that I was sure was going to get hit by lightening) to do her business and then get dried off cuz you know shes getting right back in our bed!
Um.....who rules our house?????!!!!!!
4:30 am now.....think I'll see if I can make it happen.
Will send pics tomorrow of planted beds....hoping this rain doesn't beat the azalea buds off the trees!
gnite.....and gmornin!!!

Can it be??? Sunshine?!!!

After what seemed like 40 days and 40 nights...of rain and gray, cloudy skies...the sun is out and the temps are perfect.  The sky is crystal clear blue and the breezes are crisp and perfectly satisfying!!  Our weekend at the lake was even more perfect.  We are having some remodeling done at home and we needed to get away from the dust and stuff everywhere....
I'm not letting myself plant yet, as I do every year too early and lose it all to one more frost, and then have to re-plant.  But I did start cleaning out flower beds in prep for planting and was able to get one of our little sitting areas ready for sitting!!
and I don't know about you...and your thoughts about chicken....but I LOVE chicken and this baby was calling my name!!!
mah boyfriend fired up the smoker on Sunday and cooked that chicken and these ribs all just for me!!
Heaven, I tell ya!!!
Even made a new lil vignette with my tray stand on the island for spring
using hydrangeas that I dried from my garden last summer on the back!

*Sigh*....yes, I do believe Spring is here in all its glory!!!!

My Need for GREEN!!

I can't think of one single person who isn't "jonesing" for spring!  Even us southerners who usually appreciate the little bit of winter we do get....are really needing sunshine and our warmth back!!  Also in true southern fashion, we had temps in the high 70's for about a week...just enough time to get all those tree buds and plant sprigs popping their heads out for us to enjoy....only to be hit with temps in the high 20's last week.  I fear the prettiness of those tulip magnolias and pear trees are already drooping..
WE FEEL THE NEED FOR GREEN!!!!  (and crawfish but that hopefully will be taken care of this weekend!!....nuther whole story there!)

Took myself to Hobby Lobby last week and just bought myself some.  GREEN.  Faux Green.  It's getting me thru until the real stuff hits in the next week or two!
filled my birthday basket(thanks sandy and dianne!) with greenery
and found the lil deer lamp for 7 bucks at Target!!
(prolly on sale because it was a REINDEER at xmas time. but I'm just calling it a deer..heheh!)
