Who goes to the Beach when there are a million hurricanes out there??

I guess that would be me...….sigh.

Have had a girlfriend trip planned for a while now...you know the kind...go to a new place to explore. Try new things like 'scalloping' (its high season now) and finding new places to eat and travel to!
Eat too much, drink too much, lay out on the beach for days and laugh some more....
I found this place at Kevin and Amanda's blog...the world traveler and food blogger!  They've gone here many times and she can't talk more highly of the place. And her photos are awesome!
So, as we wait to see what Mother Nature will do with hurricane Issac, we wait.  And we pack.
And we pretend like it's all going to be ok.
I'll let ya know!!!

Cape San Blas

Cape San Blas is part of a peninsula in Gulf County, Florida extending westward from the mainland of Florida, separating St. Joseph Bay to the north from the Gulf Of Mexico to the south. The St. Joseph Peninsula extends northward from the west end of Cape San Blas. It is approximately 10 miles south-southwest of the town of Port St. Joe,

white beaches and a ton of shells to look thru.....my fave thing to do!

Rain or shine, wind or no wind.....if we can just get there, I think this will be the order of the day!!

Hello FALL????? Oh.....Hello Hunting Season!!!

We all know that when the page on the calendar rolls over to September, it means that school zones are in effect, cool weather abounds (HA) and the leaves begin to 'fall' from the trees.  But when you live in the south, the school zone is just about the only one of those signs of anything other than summertime!  BUT....Labor Day weekend also signals the start of hunting season around here and that means that this ol' mama gets weekends to herself to do as she pleases ... and this weekend, I pleased to shop with a friend one day, put out a few fall decorations one day and nap another day while trying to start a brand new book!!!  HeeHeeHee....have I mentioned that I LOVE hunting season??!!
The only pic I've received so far is one my middle son sent me.....and made me so happy because it shows me that he is 'back on track' after his stint in hospital for 2 weeks this year!
and he cracks me up because he always "stages" his hunting shots just like I stage my food pics!!

Pulled a little bit of the orange, red and yellow decor out yesterday..

Last week, some of the galpals came for a sleepover at the deer camp and Cap'n cooked us a delicious fried fish dinner!

Blueberry bread pudding and smoked salmon toast points for breakfast!

Last weekend, the grandgirls spent the days with us at the lake...mom & dad were celebrating their wedding anniversary....alone!!
We had the best time.  Swam all the time, went out for breakfast at Shady Glen marina, took a boat ride and let them swim in the lake. A crafting afternoon where we made mobiles from the shells we collected on our family beach trip this summer.  But what made a memory for me for sure was them riding in the back of the bronco with their arms in the air …. screaming FREEDOM!!!!  hahahahah….STILL laughing about that one!
Now.....if we could just get some of that cool autumn weather!!!!
