Gulf Shores 2018 ... BEACH TRIP!!!!

....and so it began....all of my son's families loaded up and took off to the beach for our Family Summer Beach trip!  It's an 8 hour drive for us, which turned into a 9 1/2 hr drive because of traffic. Boyfriend and I were the last to arrive and by the time we got there, ALL the little boys and girls were on the beach and in the water!  As it should be!!
Once again, we rented our fave house for the week, which is just perfect for us.  Every couple has their own bedroom suite and there are two kid's rooms with their own bathrooms. This was our second yr in this house and we've already reserved it for next summer too. We like it that much!
beach side...
We enjoyed great meals all together at the table...

Cap'n made his delicious waffles and sausage for breakfast....
breakfast outside for these kiddos!
Every morning, Cap'n would take the kids for a walk on the beach getting a little one on one time with them...
but first there was a little "talk" about what their walks would include!
and the boundaries that they could explore!
and then it was TAKE OFF time!!!
most of our days were filled with alot of this ...

Happy Beach Babies!!
and you know YaYa had to build some sand castles with everbody!
even tho Cap'n had to do real work while he was on the beach...
After an early morning photo session at 5:30! because of a rain out the afternoon before, we all took off for breakfast at The Hangout with the pirates and princesses...
cap'n and austin being arrrrggghhhh...pirates!

and then back to the beach we go!

One night the moms and dads went out to dinner..
(cap'n photobombing)
while I was hollering..."we the babysitters"...surely thinking they'd come back.  Nah!! they just drove off as fast as they could!!!! hahahaha
another night we had Cap'n's shrimp/oyster bisque concoction over rice...he found HUGE shrimp...
and it was deliciously enjoyed outside at dusk!
the view from my balcony outside our bedroom....on the plate WAS sausage balls, with a glob of mustard cuz they know that's how I like 'em, that my sweet daughter in laws brought up to me with my coffee.....sigh.....I love my family!
and most mornings, by the time I got outside for my coffee....these crazies were already in the pool down below!!
Tired Beach Babies!

So, as you can see, it was just the most wonderful week.  The grandkids and I look forward to it all year long and my one hope is that we are making fun, fun memories for them that they will always remember.  Even when they have their own children!!

All that was left when we all packed up for the long drive home....
nightshirts that rachel gave all of us!

Until next year....

Wha?? How Can It Be?? 41 Years...

It was a crystal clear, blue sky day on June 25, 1977.....when the cap'n and I tied the knot.
Our wedding day was, to me, taken right out of a chapter of a fairy tale story book!!
Little did we know that our lives would be so enriched by 3 perfect, well....almost perfect!!! sons...
                                                                                                                                                        (2017)
who would then fill our circle even more full with 3 daughter in laws and 6 ...and they ARE .... perfect grandchildren in those 41 years!!!
                                                                                                                                                       (2017)
Of all the things we've accomplished in our married life, I would have to say that our family is the icing on the wedding cake!!
So, to you....sweet husband, I wish you a very Happy Anniversary......filled with lots of love from me and a little of this...

Hugs Forever!

Fathers Day in our Land.....

"A father is the one friend upon whom we can always rely. In the hour of need, when all else fails, we remember him upon whose knees we sat when children, and who soothed our sorrows; and even though he may be unable to assist us, his mere presence serves to comfort and strengthen us."
~~Émile Gaboriau~~

And that is exactly what my children's father has always done, and continues to do now... comfort and strengthen them … in his own special ways!

He is our leader.
He is our gatherer.
He is our source of guidance.

And just look what he's been responsible for making in his lifetime!!!
And guess who else really really loves him???  His babygirl, ms. SophieJane!!
Thanks Cap'n for all you do for us!!!!
