Summer Lagniappe!

In only a few days, my best bud and her whole family are coming all the way from Washington State to visit for a week!!!!  First, they'll all be flying...

Then, they'll all be driving from the big city out to our lil lakehouse!

No big adventures planned............just hanging by the pool, riding a few 4-wheelers, eating alot and enjoying a few beverages together.  Mostly, just enjoying having our friends with us, that we only get to see about once a year,  to laugh with for hours on end!! Plus, all my chirren and their chirren will come out to enjoy some of that laughter too!

Can't wait!!

In other news..........the boyfriend has expanded his collection of toys and I chuckle watching him play with them!

Although this one is really for the grandkids when they get a bit bigger, me thinks he's gonna have just as much fun teaching them as they will have sailing it!

Silly Summer Sunflowers!

Don't be ashamed!  Pick your heads UP and shine toward the sky, for your sun god is calling each of your names!!

We got to our sunflower field just maybe a day or two late this yr.....they have already begun to drop their heads toward the ground.  But, it's ok.  Got some cute shots of granddaughters and I can't tell what makes me smile more.  The sight of the happy flowers or those smiley girls warming my heart!!

But really?? After all this picture taking, ms. KathleenJane was just ready to get outa dodge.....with her own wheels!!

Father/Son and their 1st Haircuts!

Whether the year is 1987 .............. or 2014......... all little boys must get their hair cut!

And even tho Dad was towheaded and son is dark headed.....they still needed that first haircut!

Purple Peas.....Please!!

That would be purple hull peas that were grown in our garden, picked by our guys on Saturday morning, transported by Matt, shelled by Josh, blanched by Cap'n and bagged up by Hailey and me!!!  We like to call mornings like this a FAMILY AFFAIR!!

The pickers showed up about 7am

Matt picked them up and hauled them to the shelling station

But mostly he just did this!!

176 bags of fresh peas ready to go into the freezer......11 bushels!!

Thanks to our PEA PICKIN' FARMERS!!! cuz our freezers are full to the brim!!!

A Family and Friends 4th of July!

We had one of the most gorgeous days of the year on the 4th...breezy, no humidity (and that alone in the south in the summer is a BIG deal) bright sunshine with loads and loads of laughter.  To me?  It was a memory maker, for sure!

I didn't get pics of all the food or more of the antics of the day because I was having too much fun to keep up with my camera. We all went by boat to the fireworks show on the river that night. Cap'n shot this one with his phone, so it's not real sharp, but it's so special to me. Because it was my son's idea to take it!!!
