...no place like HOME!

So.  I've been home since late last week and have been slowly, but surely, overcoming the dreaded jet lag.  And what better way to do that?  Why, go to the brand new deer camp....cabin....for the weekend!  Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.....a beautiful fall, actually chilly enough for a fire in the fireplace, kinda weekend.  Sunny with a light frost....making for a glorious morning landscape scene......fog in the lower areas with a blue and pink sky above.  So peaceful.  So restful.

and once the fog burns off, the sun lights up the land with smiles from all!

and this coming weekend?  ALL my babies, grown and not so grown, will be coming to spend the weekend with Cap'n and YaYa..........yes, I'd say traveling is an experience never to be forgotten, but being back home with FAMILY is a pretty cool memory maker too!!

 

FYI:  I'm writing my Italy blog in sequence of the days of the trip.  That's why the dates show up differently on the header and the post that I'm actually writing.  Just want to keep it as a running diary of the trip....and it will take me a while to get it all done.....many, many pics to go thru and edit.

HOME!!

But man, oh man................the jet lag has set in!  The trip home was just a wee bit crazy!  Spent all day on Monday on trains to get from one side of Italy to the other to catch my plane out of Pisa. Up and at airport by 5am on tuesday.  Only to find out that, maybe in two hours, the plane would get me  to Paris, Charles de Gaulle airport for my connection to the states.  Which, it did, but by then I'd missed the connection.  Why? Because the air controllers at Paris went on strike....therefore, I could not get out of the country that day. me and about 80 other people.  I find this out AFTER standing in a line for oh....4 hours. So, next I sit and wait for a bus to take me to the hotel set up by airport for overnight till flight out next day. 

OMG...............!   Hotel Cheyenne at Disneyland in PARIS FRANCE!! we were taken to a western themed hotel,,,,my room was in the Geronimo room on the compound. We were taken to a western buffet dinner cafe that night.  Crazy, I tell ya.  In Paris at a disneyland park with nary an Eiffel Tower in site??  up the next morning at 4:30 to get back on bus back to airport for a hopeful flight out at 10:30 am. We did take off, flying 9 1/2 hours to get to Houston. Supposedly, a 1 hr layover, which turned into a 4 hr layover, finally getting home about 9:30 last night! Whew!! which, to my body clock, was 4:30 am the next morning. A smooth 24 hr awake day....slept for a few hrs on plane.  Then 7am this morning, my body tells me it's really 2pm and I'm wide awake...............crazy, I tell ya.

So................it's hit me today and I'm gonna spend the next day or so trying to catch up with that 7hr time difference.

But really??  None of that even matters cuz I just returned from THE most amazing trip of a lifetime and the only thing that is sticking in my mind....thru this hazy, sleep deprived state is BLISS!

 

Be back on that jet plane......

On Tuesday....Oct. 23!!  It's time for this ol' broad to pack her bags and head back to the USA!  Have had the time of my life and waaaaaaay too many experiences to even get on paper. I  think I'm still on the first week of Assisi on the Italy Blob!! and haven't even begun anything about the Women's Retreat yet...  But not to fear...........will have all winter to work on it!!  Cannot wait to see my family......that boyfriend who everyone in Italy now knows as the Cabana Boy...and my chirren.  My Grandbabies!!!!!  omg........I need their snuggles everso.  And my sophie jane...........ONE NEVER REALIZES HOW PRECIOUS FAMILY IS UNTIL YOU ARE AWAY FROM THEM!!!
