Happy Birthday to my New Yr's Eve babyboy!!

Many, many yrs ago on New Yrs eve in 1979, I thought having a baby born on this holiday would be such a great thing...not to mention the tax deduction!!! heheheh.  But poor lil boys who have a birthday so close to Christmas AND on another holiday is not always so great for him in terms of celebrations.  BUT I celebrate him!!  For he has made me so proud to be his mom and has proven to be a very successful, independent young man.  Plus an awesome husband and NOW an even more awesome father. This is what he's been doing this yr....

hoping your day is as special as you are to all of us!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Reflecting...

Sitting here, in front of my fireplace, on a chilly Friday evening at the end of the year....I'm thinking of all the wonders of this past yr.  Some of you can relate.  As these days turn into yrs faster than we can make a grocery list, alot of us tend to really try to make each occurence and even just ordinary days....a memory that is appreciated now.  While we still have memory!! heh...joke! ( kinda)
my chair pulled up to the hearth, computer on lap and that white blob in lower left corner....
is my furry best friend who needs a haircut!
2012 began with my granddaughter's 2nd birthday
and the birth of my second grandchild.....
Austin Rex!

Cap'n sailed Blew Bayou to Mexico and the middle and babyboy went with him for some deep sea fishing.....bringing LSU with them. Then off to Roatan.

Easter was a blast and we all got to be together....including the cousins!
May brought the beginning of construction of the cap'n and his son's new deer cabin!
35 yrs of marriage came to us this yr!
Found out that we are going to have grandbebe #3 in May of 2013 with another
My sweet Cap'n gave me the trip of a lifetime....6 weeks in Italy roaming and discovering new cultures and lifestyles!!
began a new blog, just for the Italy trip..link is on sidebar---> hoping to get it finished now that the holidays are over.  BEST TIME EVER!!! and definitely a memory maker!
and while I was gone, they moved into new deer camp!

AND learned that we are going to have our FOURTH grandbebe in July 2013!!
the newlyweds...my babyboy and his bride are going to have a baby!!!!!!!! wow.

Thanksgiving and Christmas time gave us the chance to all be together and APPRECIATE all we
do and all we have!
Man, oh man.......we've had a beautiful year...one for the record book...oh wait, this blob IS our record book!!

And what's funny?  If you go back and read one of the first posts of 2012...my word for the yr was APPRECIATE.
I SURELY DO!!!!

Christmas Eve and Morning ...2012

It's been a long time since I've gotten to witness the wonder and glow of a baby's face on their first Christmas morning.  Lilli's first yr was spent with her mom's family...so getting to watch Austin come thru that door was sheer delight  for me!!
When they got back here on Christmas eve afternoon, it was only the four of us and Austin.....so he had free reign over all things at YaYa's house.....including the tea table.  He loved sitting in his lil chair and not "having" tea as we're used to with ms. sweetcheeks - but banging every single thing he could on the tabletop.  Cuz that's how LITTLE BOYS have tea parties!!
then his daddy brought in the very cool "huntin' kind" of truck that he got from his NeNe and Big Daddy!  Talk about cute!  And he can really kinda ride it.....even with formula dripping down his face...hahahaha!!
Then it's time to get his xmas pj's on!
then get the cookies and milk out for Santa....
Cap'n explaining to him about the food for the reindeer...
reading Twas the Night Before Christmas...
does THIS really look like a kid who's ready to get in bed with visions of sugarplums in his head to wait for Santa??
um....NO.  mom needed to settle him down a bit...
Cap'n made his famous gumbo for our Christmas eve treat and soon after, everyone had settled down for a long winter's nap.
But when his daddy brought him into the living room....
he was on the go again......checking out Santa's bootprints in the fireplace!
pushing, opening and closing the door and gas tank on his car, carrying Alvin and Simon around in the back....and even his Emmylou
Soon, it was time to get dressed in his Christmas finery to visit his Nene and Big Daddy again
Look what a little man he is in his corduroy pants with a belt on it??!!!!! Mama looking pretty spicy, herownself!!

Our Christmas Story.....2012

Every year the fat man....er, Santa, asks for lists from good lil boys and girls in our family.  Depending on how good they think they've been...usually will be the deciding factor on how long the list is!!  HaHaHaHa....j/k!!  So, on the list of my first daughter in law was .... a YaYa day!  That means a fun shopping, lunching, spa, drinkin....kinda day!  One or all of the forementioned!  So, once Santa relayed that info to me there was only one thing to do.  Yep.....get in my car, drive the 3 or so hours to her house and make it happen..........not to mention that my grandson happens to live there too and I could have some quality time with him before all the hoopla of Christmas!
The night I got there we went to have dinner at a japanese restaurant where Austin truly enjoyed the antics of the grill master!!
the sweet family!

The next day, after a bunch of snugglin' and playin', we took mr. man to school while mama and I went to play!  Of course, one of the highlights was LUNCH!!  hahaha.... And what a wonderful day it was...she has no idea that it was prolly a better gift for me  than even for her! And a super way to start off the holidays!!
This year it was 2 of my son's turns to go to their wive's families for Christmas eve so we celebrated our family celebration on the weekend before the big day.  They began arriving around noon and the fun began. Ms. Lilli and Mr. Austin were adorable playing together but as you can imagine, ms. you know who was the boss!! (this year....next yr may be different!)
Aunt Hailey made reindeer cookies that were so cute and were eaten with joy!
Just as it was beginning to get dark, we decided to do our family gift exchange....and you talk about fun!
Sweetcheeks got some Barbies!
AND the dreamhouse that she told Santa she wanted!!
and mama was beaming all the while!!
two big girls found moonshine flasks under the tree for their late night antics!
big (little) boys talking about their new helicopters that they flew way late into the night!
EVERBODY opening presents!!
even Bromley enjoying the Good Times!
This mama thinks she may have the best present of all!
After the craziness died down and the babies were fed and put to bed, the big kids sat down to a great meal.  Good Food. Good Wine. Laughter. Stories. More Laughter.  Isn't that what it's all about??!!!

stay tuned for the hilarity of Christmas morn with an 11 month old......!!
