A Mother's Love....
...never wanes! One of my daughter in laws has to get her wisdom teeth out tomorrow and she's been hurting all week and not eating.......so this is going to her fridge for day after tomorrow when she can eat again....Broccoli and Cheese soup!
Going over to my pregnant daughter in laws house this weekend for a bebe shower for my grandson!! So..........for a day when she doesn't feel like cooking and since it's one of my son's faves......Crawfish Fettucini!

And because they all love chocolate chip cookies....
They will ALL get some!!!
Since they're all on their own now in their own lil worlds.....and mama can't wrap them up in blankets on the couch when they feel bad and make their fave suppers every night, we moms just do what we can to give them that lil touch of home. You know......to make them feel loved!

Playing with the Tigers!
That would be our LSU Tigers!! just got home from a wonderfully, fun, fun weekend at Tiger Stadium....also commonly referred to as ~ Death Valley~...as the Auburn tigers and as my Auburn buddy Jane, from Artfully Graced, are probably calling it today! Um, we kinda beat 'em..45-9. (sorry jane!) And since we are ranked #1, numeral uno, in the nation ..... our biggest obstacle is now Alabama, ranked #2. On November 5, the game is ON. If any of you love college football, this will be the game to watch!! So..........we pulled out of the driveway on Friday around noon headed for
baton rouge.
Prolly.......oh.....90,000 people there! It was a leetle bit loud when Auburn was trying to hike their ball...heheheheheh.
And one of my best Vivgal buddies came to hang out with us!
It was such a fun day! Good food.....lots of it!....Good friends......Beautiful sunshine filled day.....And our LSU Tigers are ranked #1...........ahhhhhhhhhhhh.....Doesn't get much better than that!!

me ready for the 5hr. drive! (See her in my bag?!!)Not only did we get a new daughter in law a few months ago, but we got her family as new friends too! Her mom and dad secured us a motorhome spot right next to them and we had a blast tailgating!
Just look at the sea of motorhomes......and this was just one parking lot! There are many like this one..

Everybody and everything dresses up!

And if you ever wondered what it would be like to be encircled into a world of purple and gold...

My honey watching the game!

Just Can't Get Enough!!
Everytime I look thru the babyboy's wedding pictures, I see one more that touches my heart more than it did the first time I looked at it. To me, this image tells a story that will stay with them forever! Now..................I wonder what he was telling her!! And does she remember??
A Father-in-law/Daughter-in-law moment in time!

Changes in "somebody's" life!!
That would be this Cute as Candy Corn couple!!
My boyfriend and I went to visit our oldest son and his sweet bride this past weekend....and what fun we had! We got to stay at their brand new house! They moved in about a week ago and they've worked so hard to get it ready....and ready it is!! Not only is it in a perfect tree-lined neighborhood but the thought that came to mind when I saw it was......it feels like home! I am so happy for them!

And to make it an even better weekend.........look what else I got to see!

This is what she is going to hold diapers in!! So cute......she's going for a bohemian/hippie theme!!
My vivgal buddy said to me the other day....."So, all your kids are in their own nest now!" Wow. That was a powerful statement that really hit home. We spend our whole lives preparing our children to fly....to be independent......to leave our nest. But when it actually happens? Well, even tho we're sooo happy for all of them........Wow. Just wow.

The Duck Pond!!
Quack Quack!
There is a duck pond in our town where many, many different kinds of ducks reside. It's right next to a residential area so you can imagine how well fed these ducks are. Not to mention that they've built a whole playground for young children.....so between the ugliest, biggest ducks you"ve ever seen and the amount of duck poop on the ground.........toddlers LOVE IT!! So, on a sunny day last week, ms. thang and her mom and I went to play! Lots of other kids there and lots to play on. She fed the ducks......even tho when she was on the ground standing beside them as they monstered over her, she would say Sorry Duck. Sorry Duck!! Highlarious!

Vintage Betty Crocker!
My buddy Jane, over at Artfully Graced, and I have been talking cookbooks and I was telling her about the original Betty Crocker cookbook that I got from my mom's collection when she passed away. Man, oh man.....do I ever remember that red/white checked book lying around on our kitchen counter all the time. And being the lil kid, who was shoooed out of the kitchen all the time, I never thought anything about it. But now, I am so proud to own it. I don't really use the recipes from it but I do look at it every now and then and laugh. The book was first released in 1950 and mine is that edition!! Even the masking tape that mom used to hold it together is original!! Was going to send pics to jane but then realized that I better document it here as well so those chirren of mine will realize how important it is to me ..... and keep it floating in the family. The images and the "tips for the homemaker" are HILARIOUS!!

I even found some of her handwritten recipe cards in the book! Geeze, don't all of us old-timers remember these frozen fruit salads??!
Amazon.com Review
First published in 1950, Betty Crocker's Picture Cook Book is now reprinted in all its old-fashioned glory. Betty immerses you in a time when women were homemakers, cakes had at least two layers, and salad was iceberg lettuce. You may hesitate to recreate what your mother or grandmother probably cooked--if so, consider that back then we ate simply, in the days before the word foodie was invented. Many of the recipes suit today's harried lifestyle, as you see in Six Layer Dinner, combining eight cups of vegetables with a pound of ground meat, and Dainty Tea Brownies topped with colorful chopped pistachios.
Hundreds of black-and-white photos, animated drawings, and quaint color spreads of prepared dishes aid you in using the recipes. Beginners learn how to measure ingredients, choose the best economical cuts of meat, and cut up round and sheet cakes for serving. There is even a section on how to set the table. This loose-leaf book contains enough recipes to fill a 12-page, double-column index. Best of all, perhaps, is the "Shortcut" section, where useful tips include cleaning a grater of cheese residue by rubbing it with a piece of stale bread. These are interspersed with 15 ways to recuperate from overwork. One suggestion is to lie down on the kitchen floor on your back and relax for three to five minutes. Still a good idea, though few people have a kitchen large enough to try this. --Dana Jacobi
Product Description
It's the book that started it all, the well-loved edition that first bought Betty Crocker cookbooks into American homes and hearts. Published in 1950, this ground-breaking title made cooking easy, it made cooking appealing, and best of all, it made cooking fun. Packed full of practical tips, useful hints, and lavish color photography, this was the book that shaped cooking for generations, the book that people remember. Every recipe you -- or your mother -- ever wanted is here, from pigs in blankets, to Emergency Steak to Chicken Tomato Aspic. Enjoy the clever ideas throughout -- twelve months of birthday cake ideas, showing how to decorate a cake to match each month's gem stone, pointers to make setting up a kitchen easy, or hints to make housework more pleasant. Feel a part of history when making Home Front Macaroni, developed during WW II rationing to stretch meat. Get into the spirit of fun with a Betty Crocker "Cookie Shine" or cookie baking party. People who grew up with this book will want it for the memories; those who are new to the book will want it for its charm and its intelligent approach to cooking. It's a perfect keepsake and a great gift.
**Just looked it up and it's worth 237.00 today! Ha-Ha.........wouldn't sell it if it was worth 2000!!**
