Windchime Woman!

I never realized until I posted the pic of my chimes on the anniversary day or until I took a walk around the yard this morning, that I am kind of a sicko about windchimes. I love them everso...something about the sweet songs they sing when the breezes dance thru the colored glass or shells. Always warms my heart each time I walk past one because it takes me back to a special trip or place where I got them. Windchimes are always something I pick up when I'm traveling so my thoughts go back to who I was with or what fun things I was doing with special people in special places!
I also have a little "fairy" house! Found this in Sedona, Arizona on a trip with galpal, clisa! You're supposed to hang it closeby, for all the faieries who bring good luck, to have a place to sleep while they're in the area! and Lo and Behold!! Look what was lookin' at me while I was taking these pics!!
We always see locust shells 'hanging around'. Used to be a fave of the boys when they were little to stick the shells on everything they touched! Below is a pic of a locust coming out of its shell...
"Locusts are a part of a large group of insects commonly called grasshoppers which have big hind legs for jumping". short explanation of what the locust actually is!

Pasta and Prosciutto

Ok. This is the last recipe from last month's Food Network magazine that I'm gonna post about.....just got my new issue in the mail yesterday!! Heh. But it was really good to me cuz I'm such a pasta whore. Like it any way I can have it! And on this hot summer day, it was a nice light dish. Spinach, fresh sugar snap peas, prosciutto and white wine...mmmmm....almost made me feel like I was in a trattoria!!Just a glimpse of the view from my front door yesterday as day was turning into dusk...

New Recipes

So.....I love, love, love Food Network magazine. I've let all my other ones go, except of course Southern Living, and have kept this one because every single month, there are so many good recipes. I looked at my last issue and decided I was gonna make a recipe every night last week from the mag. Well....I didn't make it every night but I did do a few! And they were mmm...good! Cajun Rice with Sausage. Easy, peasy and quite tasty...used andouile sausage.Along with that, I made a honey cornbread that was good, as well. Lots of browned butter and honey...Also made, but don't have pics for, some brown sugar glazed bananas for ice cream topping and twice..I did Dijon Chicken Wings for lakehouse company over the weekened! Will definitely do these recipes again.

Next pic up came from the Food Network Channel teevee show...Guy Fieri...some pork tacos. Actually, mah boyfriend made this one. You actually boil a pork butt roast in sweetened condensed milk and cola!!! sound gross? um, kinda. But you cannot believe how it tasted on fried tortillas with purple onion, cilantro and hot salsa on it. So good. I also did some baked, toasted grits to go with them...Was like a tamale without any stuffing. Gread side for the tacos!
Final pic for you today is not a new recipe....it's what our steak night looks like every dingle dangle Friday night. Yep! The boyfriend and I eat save up our allotment of red meat for Friday night and I have not one guilt feeling about it. So. Damn. Good! I wanted to get a pic of the cooked meal but dontcha know that by the time it was ready...........I was not thinking about taking pics. Ha-Ha!! Maybe this week, I'll get the final meal image!

I like to cook!

Bon Appetit!

One day last week, a few of the peeps got together and hosted a bridal luncheon for Jo....Laura's soon to be daughter in law......as of 5pm today! Some of the family started coming in from out of town so this was a lil impromtu eat and greet! The three of us hostesses know each other's ways so well that we more or less threw ideas out there and BAM!! When we showed up at Wine Country, it only took us 30 minutes to put it all together with what we had brought!! Man, oh man.........best way EVAH to throw a party!! We dressed the table and then gave it all to her as her gift! Placemats, dinner plates(they were seashell themed...the couple lives in Miami!) the napkins and napkin rings! Party favors to remember the day! Salt&Pepper shaker birds in a lil nest...just like the newlyweds!!

A Little Lagniappe on World Ocean's Day!

That would be "just a lil something extra"!! A gift. It comes from a Louisiana French (Creole) word, itself derived from the Spanish "la napa" or "the gift". Originally it meant a small token of appreciation traditionally given by a New Orleans merchant to his faithful customers. Lagniappes came to national attention during the reign of Louisiana Governor Huey P. Long, who expanded the concept of "lagnaiappe" to include political favors and routine small-scale official corruption. Heheheh.............and if anyone knows anything about Loosiana politics, you know it's been corrupt for quite some time!! ANYWAY.....today's post is just a lil bit of lagniappe......just a bit of this and that........ Shellbelle asked on her blog what kind of birds we have in our back yards.....on Saturday, while drinking coffee on our deck, we spotted these lil red-headed woodpeckers. Um....that should have read...We heard them! Knock-Knock! Finally got the shells washed and bleached that I collected at Sanibel Island a few months ago. Trying to decide what to make out of them. Needs to be something special.and just because I love 'em everso..............and they know who they are!!And because today is World Ocean's Day, please go back to Shellebelle's Tiki Hut to read her magnificent post about an underwater museum.....you won't be sorry! She is a true lover of the seas and does everything in her power to protect and nurture the underwater world...while there's still time..before our sea floors become just another dumping ground of human disruption.

Be aware of the need to take care of our oceans...........so more lil guys like this will thrive and continue to make us happy!
