It's not even June yet!!!

Lazy, crazy, hazy days of summer?? Well, I guess so because I literally did not ONE thing today except this: I don't actually mean I only drank beer all day long!.....but I did lie in, beside and around the pool all day long. Read my book and admired the views. Will also admit that I did take an itty, bitty nap while floating the day away. Do I feel guilty? NADA! Isn't this what Saturdays in Summer are all about?!!!! :)

Girlfriends at the Lake!

The lake is fun. The camp is crazy. Sunny, warm but breezy temps, azure blue skies with nary a cloud in sight and good food is fun. But throw your best gal pals into the mix and well.........it's just plain perfecto!! That's right. Two of my bestest girlfriends came over to spend some days and nights here at Rio Bonito....reminded me of times past, when the giggles were muffled only to allow for loud, hilarious laughter ringing out as echos into the night air!

Let's see ~~ We ate. We swam. We hot-tubbed. We went for a boat ride. We ate some more. We drank, um....just a leetle bit!, we watched some tee-vee and we made memories. See? What more could a girl want??

Since I seem to have a 'thang' for starfishes these days, I just love these seashell dishes with starfish on them!

The sand dollars were lil momentos for the girls to take home with them. I got them from the bottom of the caribbean sea at Treasure Cay in the Abacos Islands!

And then, of course, a signature drink had to be named in honor of the Mo-Fo club....which is our reason for meeting for margaritas once a week! To discuss, take notes and solve all the world's problems! Somehow...someway....the name "Ruby" came up, which then led to "RubyAmongstUs"??????????????? But, remember, it doesn't take much to satisfy and amuse us so Ruby is now a constant in our notebook! (they're making me be the historian!)

And his mama thought she could hide him from me...................heh.

So..........Now It's SUMMER!!

That's right. Memorial Day = SUMMER!

And here are a few things that remind me of summer at my camp!

Memorial Day!

So we had a wonderful day! My chirren and s/0's came over and we cooked the good ol' fashioned burgers ala avacado, cilantro, fresh maters and hash browns!! I also made a very deliciouso new recipe of macaroni and cheese. NOT cholesterol free and definitely artery clogging! 5 different kinds of cheese AND 1/2&1/2 AND heavy whipping cream!! Hey........it was a holiday weekend, eh? And then there was the red, white, & blue dessert.....which was only a fitting way to honor our vets.

....to come up for air and see the sunshine!! This morning I woke up feeling like I will live. Whew! It's been yrs since I've had a cold and I don't do them well......just ask anyone around here who has tried to communicate with me in the past few weeks!!

But even tho I've been down, I've still been watching the beauty of springtime.....just look at the bluebirds who are trying to build a nest IN the same house where there are about 6 purple martins raising about 3 nests of babies!! Bluebirds are very territorial, meaning they don't even like to raise families near other bluebirds...much less the very loud, bossy purple martin! They argued and fought with each other all morning long yesterday, yet; this morning, I haven't seen the bluebirds again. I'm guessing the bossy ones won the battle. Hope not. Would love to see all of them make nice and raise those babies together.......so I could watch!!

cough, cough....sneeze!

What do ya get when you leave the tropics? Why, pollen crud and sinus infections, of course! Man, oh man...haven't had one of these attacks in a while. But then when you look at our day today....crystal clear blue sky, sunshine, about 70 degree temps....ya just gotta get outside!!

Have I mentioned that sophie is a bird watcher too? Well, she is! Just look at her keeping an eye out for these birds, house finches, that we watched all day over the weekend!!

My Life on "Land"!!

Previously, I've journaled about travels aboard Blew Bayou...which, of course, I've called my BLOB! And really....most all of the thoughts that come out of this mind and onto paper is usually just a big ol' blob of 'chatter'!! So why not continue on and chat about what life is like at Rio Bonito? Which, for the few of you who don't know, is the Land of the River Rats!! When we're not boat trash, we're river rats! Big Time!
Our lakehouse is in Uncertain, TX......yeah~~none of us are really sure where it is~~but it has truly become our home away from home. Or as some in my house would say.....it's their ONLY home!! R.B. is on Cypress river, drips with spanish moss hanging from cypress trees, has more birds and wildlife than a zoo and is the heart and soul of our family. In fact, 13 yrs ago TODAY...we spent our first night here.........so very appropriate that I begin this blob, with alot of it being about our lil heaven on the water, on this very day!

So............let me begin by giving you a lil tour of my life and what gives me so much fulfillment.
My gardens, my flowers and the beautiful scenery of this part of the world at this time of the year.
